Along with a new distinct storybook art style and numerous special effects (some of which makes use of the integrated Super FX2 microchip), the game introduces new abilities for the Yoshies (including flutter jumping for extra distance, a mid-air "ground pound" technique, and the ability to quickly turn swallowed enemies into eggs for use as ranged weapons).
